Two supermarket chains control the vast majority of grocery retail in this country. They ask suppliers to cut their margins to keep shelf prices competitive, but rarely cut their own. House brands get aggressive pricing while the NZ-made products sitting next to them stay out of reach for families already stretched thin.

It's a rigged system. Not dramatically, not corruptly. Just structurally. And everyday Kiwi households are the ones absorbing it.

We built Kepie because the best thing most families can do in that environment is plan. Know what the week costs before you shop. Make the decisions at home, not at the shelf under pressure. See where the money actually goes and find the room to move.

We'd love for every Kiwi family to buy NZ-made. So would most Kiwi families. But when the duopoly prices its own labels below what local producers can sustainably match, that choice stops being a real one.

Kepie won't fix the system. But it gives families the clearest possible view of it, and the best shot at spending well inside it.
